Description

Indulge in the festive tradition of Alsatian baking with these simple hazelnut cookies. These melt-in-your-mouth sablés feature the aromatic, roasted flavor of hazelnuts, making them the perfect companion for tea or coffee during the holiday season. With their tender texture and elegant dusting of powdered sugar, these handmade treats are a guaranteed delight for family and friends.

Ingredients

250 g soft butter (room temperature)
250 g all-purpose flour
120 g sugar
170 g hazelnut powder
Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Cream the softened butter and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy.
Gradually mix in the hazelnut powder.
Fold in the flour gently until a homogeneous dough forms; do not overwork.
Shape the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Form small balls the size of a walnut and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Flatten each ball slightly with your palm.
Bake for about 10 minutes until lightly golden.
Cool completely on a wire rack before dusting generously with powdered sugar.

Notes

Ensure the butter is soft before starting to achieve the perfect texture. The chilling time is crucial to make the dough manageable. Use high-quality hazelnuts for the best flavor.
